Throughout documented history the plight of the American Indian has been one of tragedy and inspiration. From the age of the might Cherokee warrior, who fought so gallantly and heroically to save Cherokee country from European colonists, to the 20th Century wars and battles to save the United States from the threat of aggression, the names of the Cherokees who fought and died can be found in great numbers. But what priced have the Cherokee paid for the land of their ancestors ..this land made by the Creator and entrusted to human hands? What price has been paid for "Duyukta," (the straight and narrow path)?
Amidst all the pain and suffering and in the wake of all the battles, "grief" has been the constant companion of those left behind to carry on the struggle for freedom. "And Her Father Cried" depicts a Cherokee warrior cloaked in the banner and symbol of our great country counting his losses and explaining those losses to one very young and innocent child, a child who knows only that as her father spoke of a thing called war, death and destruction and how "we" must be brave and strong, his grief was more than he could bear "And Her Father Cried!"
